A few pictures my wife, Carmen, took while we were treking up near Bear Mountain and around Garrison, NY during a snow storm… The day was gray so figured why not snap the photos in grayscale…

Down Sweater is AMAZING

Storm King Highway

December 19th, 2008 | By Iolo in Environment, Photos | Comments Off

Recently, New York experienced an ice storm and it produced some amazing photography opportunities. My good friend, Samantha Moranville, captured the spectacular natural event around rt. 9W in upstate New York….

I took these photos on and around Rte 9W on the “Storm King Highway” and in Black Rock Forest- just south of Cornwall in New York State, a stone’s throw (if you have a good arm!) from the Hudson. I wanted to show you all what I saw as simply magnificent and I did my best to capture it in a way that depicts the vastness and the depth and the details. Of course, I couldn’t manage to get the chill or the breeze or the sounds of tiny crystal glasses breaking on the ground into the photos, or little bits of my subject matter getting crushed under my feet (I tried not to mess anything up- really!), so please, try to imagine these things when you have a look.

I hope you like the pictures. I wish you all could have been there.
