I recently picked up a great field guide by John Muir Laws entitled “The Laws Field Guide to the Sierra Nevada”. It has great illustrations and information about various species of plants, insects, animals and more. If you live in California you should pick up this guide, it’s one of the best I’ve seen.

Trails near San Diego, CA

One aspect I liked so much about riding Southern California was the long downhill singletrack surrounded by spectacular views. Although the majority of trails we hit were closer to LA, these trails in San Diego seem very similar. Just watching these videos makes me want to head out to the west coast to ride…

San Juan to Los Pinos

22 miles of grueling climbs and some of the steepest and most loose downhill trails you’ll ever ride. Los Pinos is a series of hike-a-bike climbs and the descent on the other side will turn the toughest DH’er into a sobing little baby. Probably the hardest ride I ever done. On the upside it’s truly beautiful. The ride takes 6-8 hours to complete. Some sites say the loop can be done in 4.5 hours but that’s if you are an expert racer.

Lunch Ride
